Even so, I argue that India’s national interest overlaps significantly with ‘global interests’. That’s because what is in the interest of a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, large, and a young (nearly 8% of the world comprises just of Indians below the age 28) liberal democratic republic, can hardly be against the global interest.
It takes a moment of extraordinary clarity to walk away from someone, something, someplace that you are intrinsically attached to. It takes even greater discipline to keep moving forward and resist turning back. Especially when the road ahead remains unclear.
