After assuming the mantle of commander for the Twilight Rangers, Sylvana found herself confronting a dilemma for the first time that seemed insurmountable. The bond she shared with the Celestial Spirit had vanished, stripping her of the stellar power she had always relied upon. As darkness engulfed her, mockery and whispers seemed to conspire from all directions, closing in on her.

“Ha! Without the power of the stars, what makes her fit to be a commander?”
“Just give up. Step down and leave the command to someone more capable.”

In this dark illusion, the more Sylvana panicked and sought escape, the louder these jeers became. Whispers from every direction entangled her, clinging like mud and dragging her deeper into the abyss.

Not long before, an ominous meteor had fallen into the Twilight Forest, igniting a black fire and paving the way for demons to invade, even seizing control of the minds of her people. Sylvana, riding her spirit deer through the lakeside bushes, aimed to reunite with the Rangers working there to seek the dark star shard.

Unbeknownst to her, a malevolent presence, like vines with a life of their own, precisely entangled the running hooves of her spirit deer. Sylvana fell, and darkness swallowed her in an instant, the deer nowhere to be found.

Alone in the boundless dark, she ran tirelessly, fighting off the bindings that ensnared her, but the darkness was a constant shadow. She slowed, the faces of every tribe member in the forest flashing through her mind.

Sylvana had always believed it was the power bestowed by the stars that enabled her to be at the forefront of repelling demons. Without it, even if she managed to escape this darkness, she couldn’t face the trusting gazes of her people. Could she continue to fight for her people as their commander without the star’s power?

“Am I truly powerless without the stars?” Sylvana muttered, as darkness crept over her face. In a moment of lucidity, she recalled the advice given by a sage in the forest when she first received the Celestial Spirit’s favor: “My child, beneath the dazzling stars, you must see your own path clearly.”

She had interpreted this to mean reliance on the stars and possessing great power were necessary to earn her people’s trust and to qualify as a commander.

Yet, even before the Celestial Spirit’s arrival, she had faced her people’s gaze and taken on the commander’s responsibilities. To not disappoint, she trained and studied daily, organizing the Twilight Rangers based on their strengths, ensuring they could leverage their advantages in battle and return home safely, even against formidable enemies.

It wasn’t the mighty power of the stars that earned her comrades’ trust, but her ability to unite everyone’s strength and lead them through all adversities.

At the first sign of the meteor falling into the Twilight Forest, Sylvana had efficiently assigned tasks to her Rangers. Controlling the fire, repelling demons, healing comrades… Their actions, under her direction, were swift and timely, promising that the darkness enveloping the forest would eventually be dispelled.

“Even without the power to illuminate, I can guide everyone to where the light is.”

With a fierce cry, Sylvana reopened her eyes, tearing through the mire that nearly drowned her. The bond with the Celestial Spirit, seemingly rekindled by her heart’s violent beats, began to reconnect.

The darkness gathered into a thick fog, and a demon with a vast single eye emerged. Its illusion shattered, revealing cracks through which a snow-white doe appeared, gracefully leaping down.

The doe, landing beside Sylvana, gently licked her wounds. The encroaching darkness, upon touching the light radiated by the doe, scattered and fled.

Under the faint light of the Celestial Spirit, Sylvana’s gaze hardened with resolve: “I will no longer rely solely on the favor of the Celestial Spirit. Now, I will take the first step on the path I choose.”

Screams, roars, and wails emanated from the demon as its black tendrils surged towards Sylvana, now utterly transformed, attempting to bind her once more.

“Abandon the delusion of being a savior! Darkness is the destiny of this planet, and destruction is your ultimate end!”

Hearing Sylvana’s call, several stars descended from the fractured sky, trailing long comets, and in her hands, a massive bow materialized.

“I am the commander of the Twilight Rangers.” She drew the bow, the tip aglow with gathered starlight.

“If anyone loses their light, I shall be the morning star that brings them hope!”

A dazzling beam pierced the ominous aura of the dark star shard, shooting from the lake’s center to the sky, lingering long after.

As the darkness faded and gentle starlight blanketed the lake, creating ripples that spread out, the people Sylvana had wisely organized continued to inspire each other, relay their efforts, and prevent the disaster from spreading.

And on the horizon, as the fire dimmed, the first light of dawn appeared.
