Mitochondria Op-Ed

Every super car has a super engine. The engine is what makes a car super, the sleek design and paint job are after thoughts. Without a top-notch functioning engine a car will be more sought after as scrap. In a cell there are many parts that are important; though, only one can be considered the most important, the mitochondria. Why is the Mitochondria the most important? Because without it the cell would have no energy; nothing to propel it forward, like a car without an engine. I transform the working class glucose into the high energy ATP required for the cell to survive. I can convert even a simple glucose molecule into multitudes of powerful ATP. ATP drives almost all cellular processes throughout a human body. Without me, humans wouldn’t have enough energy to live. So next time you wonder who the most important cell organelle is; I can tell you with complete honesty, I am.
