Rethinking Innovation With Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

Very interesting… even though I have never thought about it, I do realize how widely this can be applied.

For one, we are busy with a software project in which we identified the core functionality which is a small number. These few core functions it needs to do really well… think this is like the physical.

Safety is the simplicity of the system, because of the core functionality being executed efficiently and the reporting on it, you can easily see the state of the system, or business without having to worry.

A sense of belonging comes from having the system having small changes on the views for the system. This allows each role to see their role specific information as if the system was designed for them.

Having everything in order, the user either gains respect for or from the system and quite possibly admiration for what it allows him/her to achieve.

Finally, self-actualization, with all the above in place, the user can then focus on their role and job function. This will allow them to explore more into their role. This exploration could then ignite their potential to fulfil their role even more.

Well, that’s what I saw when I read the story.
