On 29th January 2022, we took the first step towards onboarding 1 million+ users onto the Solana blockchain, one of the MOST robust Layer-1s in the industry, by launching the Alpha-Version of GARI Wallet inside the chingari app. Here’s a brief timeline of what happened post that:
- Feb 9 - Rolled out GARI Wallet Integration within the Chingari App
- Feb 24 - 100k Activated Wallets, entering the list of Top 10 Social Tokens
- Mar 15 - 250k+ Activated Wallets on the Solana Blockchain
- Apr 29 - Reached 500k Activated Wallets mark.
📢We’re excited to report that we’ve passed the 500,000 Activated Wallets milestone on the Solana blockchain, propelling GARI into third place in the Top recognized tokens list (by Holders) on the Solana Blockchain.
We launched the GARI wallet, integrated it into our Chingari app on 9th Feb, and in just 78 days have onboarded 500k Gari wallet users. We have been constantly taking inputs from the community and making the product even better. The journey has been absolutely thrilling as the community has been extremely supportive and engaging with feedback.
What contributed to the growth?
We think that the biggest factor that contributed to reaching this milestone was ‘the belief of our community’ in us. And for putting their belief in us, they were fairly rewarded as well. With the integration of the GARI Wallet in the Chingari App, Users were able to create an ‘Exclusive Wallet’ in the Chingari App and send tips to creators or as creators, receive tips from their Audience. All the Users who activated their GARI wallets in the app and completed KYC were rewarded with GARI tokens, for being early adopters of Social Entertainment on Blockchain.
Also, another contributing factor was Solana. The Chingari platform currently has about 40 million+ active users every month and we feel that it was critical for us to look into blockchain possibilities that were not just fast in terms of transactions but also economical (low gas fee). We chose Solana because of these characteristics, as well as an “ambitious and extremely supportive sounding” Solana team.
When asked “What one particular feature of the product do you think contributed the most to the 500k wallets mark?”, to which Ankush Kedia, Product Manager at GARI, replied, “The concept of incentivization has been the biggest driver for the users to create a wallet and participate in the content creator economy.”
The Next Target
From here on out, our major goal will be to educate and enroll more users into the web3 arena. This would be the next step toward our objective of onboarding 1 million+ users to the Solana blockchain, and we also have some unique product integrations in the works for Chingari users.
When asked about the upcoming product features and targets, Ankush replied, “Once our next set of features goes live real soon, the pace of users adapting GARI will only accelerate from here. The upcoming features like community rewards minting and Video NFT marketplace will open up tremendous opportunities for content creators and Chingari users to generate income with GARI.”
On a recent AMA with Huobi Global, our Co-founder and CEO, Mr. Sumit Ghosh said, “One of our challenges, or which we rather consider our aim, is to educate our chingari users about crypto, NFTs, use-cases of NFTs, various tokens, etc. Getting these half a million active crypto wallet users to 30 million or 40 million active wallet users is a task that we need to perform through the next one — one and a half years. And, it’s actually happening. Our userbase is getting educated. We’re hosting audio-rooms specifically to educate our community about Crypto and Web3. In the future, we’ll also be able to do live video chats to educate them about the advantages of the Web3 Space and the GARI token.”
