I am absolutely in love with this article. What stuck out to me the most was this part of the article: “You can succeed without being happy, but it’s damn hard not to be happy if you’re no longer a failure (like Walt Disney discovered after being a failure).”
Happiness is a byproduct of your work, of your success (depending on what you consider success). Personally, I feel the most content when I am somewhere in the middle, being productive and doing what I love. I have also noticed that it is at times when I struggle that I realize how much potential I have to grow. I don’t believe there is a certain destination one needs to reach because that would be unsatisfying and boring. Constantly working towards something, and trying to improve yourself is happiness to me. It makes so much sense to focus on succeeding, rather than being happy because happiness will come along with that. Thank you so much for writing such a beautiful piece, Robert.
