A road bike is a perfectly cromulent thing to spend your tax refund on.

My refund is usually around $7000. We’ll typically spend $1–2000 on some kind of home project/repair. This year it’s going to be overhead lights in the living room. I put $2000 away for car insurance for the year (both cars) . Another $1000 for misc. car stuff. $700 went to plane tickets, then I’ll probably spend $1000 to replace some old hockey gear (goalie gear is not cheap) The rest is saved for random non recurring expenses.
