On Gym Clothes

Gym clothes are my favorite clothes! Also to be clear I’m not at all gym bunny thin but obviously I obsessively play sports so what I’m saying is I know how to feel good while not being up to magazine beauty standards.

The first thing is ditch your baggy shorts. Tight capri or long leggings are the best because you never have to worry about them moving or revealing anything. If they fit right they stay in place. I totally love the fit of asics pants but that is probably body specific. If I were you I’d go to a Dick’s or whatever sporting goods store and find out what you like and get like one pair. If you like them enough find them for cheaper on 6pm or amazon. Amazon tends to have crazy cheaper sporting gear. Especially if you’re ok with a weird color (I have 3 pairs of bright purple capris that were all on clearance for some reason) . Good fitting sports bras are also worth their weight in gold. This is somewhere that I’ll always spend money on and I have to admit that the Lululemon ones are insanely comfy and hold up to the inside of a hockey protector for years. Millions of years. They are totally worth it at $40.

Shirts I’m all about racer back tank tops. They’re light, they don’t touch too much of your body and they are readily available in fun colors or with silly pictures on them. This is the least critical part of what you’re wearing because who cares? I’d wear just a sports bra but it’s just inviting more of the male gaze which I’m all set with.

I will be the lone dissenter on old navy athletic wear. I find it terribly constructed. I’m sure it’s fine for yoga but it hardly lasts two rounds under any athletic equipment with straps or velcro.
