I feel like if you want your college degree to lead to a specific career or paycheck it’s on you to research which college and major you need to shoot for in order to have the best chance of getting it. For example, the two closest public universities both have engineering departments. Having worked locally most hiring managers feel that students from one school have a lot more practical knowledge and from the other school come out better suited towards research. So you have a better chance of getting hired if you’re from the first school even though that one is easier to get into.
