It’s a fair point in general, but having mostly always lived within a day’s drive to the border I’ve gone to Mexico (or Canada — thanks college!) for a week for less than people (even you, Megan Reynolds) have spent in weekends that were recorded on this site.

I’m positive that there are many people who can’t swing it, but leaving the country doesn’t always mean $1000 dollar plane tickets. Hell, I’m going to Toronto from Santa Barbara next month for $400 round trip, which is notable because SBA is a tiny, expensive airport to fly out of.
