The News and its New Silent Majority: Clinton Supporters
Jeff Jarvis

Thanks. I agree with you all the way through, including about Clinton’s email server and about the Clinton Foundation. I’ve also been an enthusiastic Clinton supporter since she declared.

So here’s my comment: journalism, like education, is fraught because it’s the story we tell ourselves about who we are. The two just work on different time scales. I think technology can help (that’s why ed tech development is my field). The revolution is not so much in Big Data as it is in Big Interaction. There’s tons of functionality out there, getting more and more attached to reams of data. The story we should let people tell about themselves through online journalism should be about what they do (aggregated displays about policing, business practices, energy usage, etc.), not what they say (polls). We cannot reclaim our privacy; let’s use our sometimes dirty laundry to tell ourselves who we really are.

Like what you read? Give Bill Garr a round of applause.

From a quick cheer to a standing ovation, clap to show how much you enjoyed this story.
