Nicely done. I, too, had Bill has an editor at The Record early in my career. I’ve said it before on social media, and I’ll say it again. He was a reporter’s editor. He made you look good. From the moment he told me never use the word “exclusive” in any story you hand in to all the other sage advice, I’ll never forget him. When I left the paper, he asked me if I wanted the traditional farewell party at a bar, and I said no, nothing at all or something low-key. He organized a good-bye poker game, and I was the big winner that night. It seemed like every time I made a big bet everyone folded. It took me years to figure out that he must have told the guys at the table to make sure they dumped. I miss him.
