Again, even in dealing with students, I let go of my ideals. You see there is my idea of what a student should do, or can do or must do. Then there is what the student wants. I let go of my ideals, meet the student where they are at and build from there. I let go of all the bs that the experts say we should or must do. The real, that is what I aspire to. I meet the student, get to know them to the best circumstances permit, and help them build the life they want. I will give you the skills, you go build the life.

Ideals, for me, had become a suto intellectual colonialism. My ideals were a barrier to get past, not a a guide post. But that is me, your ideals may serve you better.
