STEEL SCULPTURE DEFYING GRAVITY BY GARRY ZAYON

This sculpture when done will be over six feet tall. I have to finish polishing the steel and make a base that will be out of solid wood. Also I will be painting the edge of the amoeba shaped form in red. Many hours of fabrication is going into this piece but I am having a lot of fun with this one because of the challenge. The pictures really do not show the full depth and do not convey the deception of defining gravity. This will up for sale soon keep checking the website under items for sale.

This section is hollow a lot of fabricating goes into making this section. The complex curves and welding of the steel is time consuming. But the outcome giving it the illusion that it is one piece is worth it.

The next big challenge is to make it look like the different elements are floating. You can see the cut out that is an access port to mount it to the main section. That will be welded close.

The last section is mounted by screwing it in to the main sectioning. Lot easier said then done. Tremendous amount of fabrication to achieve that and to make it look like it is defying gravity and of course that is how the sculpture got its name.
