Conceptions of post-scarcity societies have always been great thought-experiments to test our intuitions about different economic systems taken to extremes, but still with the assumption that there are producers and consumers involved. I like this account as it takes into consideration the emergence of AI, which could well negate the idea of labour, producer and consumer. More work will be required of this in future as this becomes closer to reality and leaves the confines of thought experiment.

This vision didn’t seem as dystopian to me as it did to others, although I did find the idea of not being able to keep kitchen appliances anymore curiously upsetting.
