Google “lithium neuroprotective NCBI” to access studies showing that low dose lithium is a very good bet for lowering Alzheimer’s risk, and decreasing effects of other forms of brain damage. It is not necessary to take a “therapeutic” level of lithium to get the benefits. A low 150 mg dose is already available. No need for blood level testing, no risk to kidneys or other systems. My own neurologists were surprisingly unaware of the lithium literature on this subject.
