Week eight of eight: Tying Up Loose Ends

According to a Pew Research Center 2019 survey, most Americans have a positive view of religion’s role in society but want it out of politics. And most American adults trust religious and non religious people equally.

Most regular attenders of religious services think there is about the right amount of political discussion in sermons.

However, Republicans and Democrats have a very different viewpoint concerning religion’s impact on public life.

Even though many Americans see religion as a positive force in civic life, they confirm that religiosity is in a downslope in the United States. This is confirmed by research that the “nones,” those without a formal religious affiliation has been rising and those who say that religion plays an important role in their lives is declining.
