OK, so this isn’t going to be an advice post — instead, I’m gonna pick the five shoes every guy should own from my own perspective. It will be a bit different since I don’t tend to stray too far from sneakers and find a way to make them work from me, from the gym to the desert (well, if I ever found myself stranded there, I’d be prepared).

The Everyday…

My go-to everyday shoe is a Nike Rosche — I usually go for the black-on-black which goes with absolutely everything. The perfect balance of comfort and style, the only downside is the knitted upper ain’t always ideal for the Scottish weather. Anyway, even though my feet may be wet, you can be sure they are comfortable!

Note. these are the perfect shoe for a long day of walking — I covered over 10 miles a day during our recent trip to DisneyWorld and didn’t have a single bit of discomfort. Try that in a pair of Old Skool Vans and you are in trouble!

The Gym…

My gym shoe of choice is the Nike Free 4.0 FlyKnits. These are the lightest, comfiest sneakers imaginable, making them the perfect gym-buddy. I picked these up for a steal in the Nike outlet store.

The Boot…

I don’t go for traditional boots and instead favour more of a hi-top sneaker. My favourite from last winter (and I’m 100% sure it’s gonna stick around into the next) was the Adidas Originals Tubular X in Hemp. Heavily influenced by the Yeezy Boost 750, this Tubular is somewhere between sneaker and sand boot — totally awesome.

The Formal…

Formal shoes aren’t really my thing so, when the occasion calls for something a little more reserved, I always go for a classic Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski in black. I’m not a big fan of trainers and smart trousers / suits and I particularly don’t like the Chuck Taylor’s and formal look — ever since it was adopted by hip-dads and Paul McCartney’s everywhere.

The Janoski is a classic-looking skate shoe which comes in a whole host of colours and designs meaning there will definitely be one to accompany you to that wedding you’ve been dreading for months.

The WildCard…

My current favourite trainer is the Kobe XI All Star — this killer black and mint colour-way is eye-catching and comfortable. Even the box for these guys is AMAZING (pity I bought them in Florida and had to ditch it)! They are from Kobe Bryant’s last All-Star appearance and, if you need more convincing, I recently noticed the soles and swoosh glow in the dark. Magic!

So, that’s my take on five shoes every guy should own. Let me know what your current favourites are and what you are looking to pick up over the coming months…
