Tubular: My Year in Pictures

The Ritual: SF to Mountain View

The train experience is beautiful if you pay attention. Pay attention.
My Soundtrack: Churches on repeat.

Coffee, scone, laptop, noise-canceling headphones. Seat away from the sun (SB West; NB East)
For special occasions, a large Philz coffee.
The skies! Oh, the skies!
And the return.

The Offices: 655 West Evelyn Ave.

The growing team. Nothing like an all-hands meeting in the old kitchen.
Nice symmetry. Shoes optional.
Tony was a nice addition. The chillest dog that ever was.

And the trips

New York’s super-storm that wasn’t.
Days in San Francisco: MiFi, two laptops.
And of course, VidCon — the next generation of humans is special, amazing and completely different. The world will be a better place.

Thank you for a great year.

First postscript: My top 5 suggestions for how to commute on the Caltrain

  1. Noise-canceling headphones: if you don’t have them, you’re doing it wrong. (Buy used if needed)
  2. Coffee.
  3. Have something to which you can dedicate intense, prolonged focus for weeks and months at a time: Game of Thrones, programming courses, long TV series. Have something to show from your commute.
  4. Start at 4th and King and end at Mountain View. Palo Alto and 22nd (and everything in between) are to be avoided if possible since you’ll probably end up standing often and standing = bad commute.
  5. Always have activities for walking, standing and sitting: podcasts, books and computers, respectively, fit the bill.

Second postscript: Some of my favorite YouTube videos

Smile it’s Supergeil!
Casey Neistat’s videos show life is amazing. Live it fully.
John Green: Creation is a gift

And finally for good measure:

Cat videos are also a gift: Gato malo.
