Look at the legislative pushback against AirBnB, Uber, Lyft, etc as prime examples of the left blocking innovative technologies to protect 20th century crony rent collectors.
Its an appealing idea.
Max Cantor

Remember, the “crony rent collectors” are there because of legislation imposed by our government.

We set up fixed rates for cab drivers in order to protect people from being exploited and having a terrible experience. We implemented taxes on taxis leaving and entering the airport as part of the fundamental revenue required to build & maintain the airport.

While I think that Uber and Lyft can ultimately provide better experiences than cabs of the 2000s or 1990s, I don’t think they should be permitted to make airport pickups for money without paying the same fees as cab drivers.

There are similar rational concerns with AirBnB.
