Day 46: It Is Finished (April 15th)

Reading: John 19

Congratulations for making it 46 days! I hope your sacrifice and commitment during these 46 days has been meaningful to you. I hope that this season has given you new perspective on your faith and I hope you have drawn closer to God as a result. Take a minute and review your experience. What was the best part of these 46 days? What was the hardest part? What did God show you? How did you grow? I hope that you felt God’s presence in a fresh and new way. You may be tempted to say, I am glad that is over and get back to the habits that you had before you began. I hope you will not allow this to be an ending, but instead a new beginning. I hope that you will make a plan to continue drawing close to God. Sometimes after a period of spiritual intensity, we want to take a break for a while. You may take a break from fasting, but you should continue to seek God with all you heart, soul, and mind. Let Jesus be your example.

In the passage we read today, we read the story of Jesus’ death. Jesus’ last words were, “It is finished.” Jesus had completed the work He had been sent to do. He breathed His last and trusted himself into the hands of the father. But Jesus’ work was not done. He would appear to the disciples over the course of the next 40 days. And His work continues today and we are called to be a part of that work. Make a decision to stay close to God, to make a plan for daily time in the Bible, and in prayer.

Prayer: Father, thank you for this time of drawing close to you. I will treasure in my heart all the things that you showed me and I look forward to building on the things I have learned. Give me strength to continue to seek you. Amen.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
