Sketch Visual Design Exercise

As a next exercise for my bootcamp prework, I was ask to recreate the following Artboards on my own using sketch.

With less than a couple of days of watching tutorials I created the following.

My Sketch Design

I didn’t believe I was going to be able to produce a decent replication. Sketch seems to have endless possibilities on how to create, edit and import imagery onto it’s Artboards. The basic import and editing tools seemed to be pretty intuitive but the learning curve on how to balance out the Gaussian blurr on a multicolor background or setting up the icon plugin took some time. There’s also a lot of math involved in order to balance out the layout of your page. In that area I know there are more tricks of the trade that once I figure those out I will be fine tuning my skills much easier and faster. Masking and boolean operations were easy to grasp after seeing the video tutorials once or twice.

Overall Sketch was a fun application to work in and can’t wait to get better at it. Seeing the hierarchy of objects come together to “paint” the intended vision was a proud moment in my short lived UX/UI journey.

Thanks for reading!
