Rakshabandhan : beginning of a new bond with the special ones

Orphanage. The first thing that comes to mind is a simple but well maintained house with children playing and running about; their faces alight with joy and a hint of mischief. To us spectators, watching them go about their life, with that glint in their eyes is enough to give us the pleasure of experiencing a thousand bright suns. Their faces brimming with laughter do not fail to express the tenderness and innocence that they carry in their hearts. This is what makes it special.

These children, who have not been privileged enough to belong to a family in the traditional sense, however, are in no loss. In these abodes, they find their real family, their real home; their care entrusted to people who have taken these little angels under their wings with complete dedication and selflessness. And that is something to be inspired by.

However this perfect little picture cannot deny the inherent reality — reality of the massive difference between our world and theirs. Although their “guardians” do everything in their capacities to ensure their access to basic needs and necessities, they often run short of supplies or methods of guaranteeing that each child gains access to the same.

Therefore, by awakening the humanitarian spirit in ourselves, we should take upon this task of contributing in the process in any means available, thereby succeeding in bringing about a huge difference into their lives. In our small efforts, lies their happiness and future.

So, why not come forward and make a child smile? On the occassion of Raksha Bandhan, the Social Service Club of IITG has in store a plethora of activities to join in their fun and to bring joy to both parties. Besides providing them with a water filter, chocolates and sweets ,we will be organising a donation drive on the 16th & 17th of August 2016 which will commence from 9am to 9pm at the security desk in the new SAC building. Any sort of donations would be welcome. Also, the people who would like to visit the orphanage are welcomed, and should fill the doc given below .
