Ever wondered what a good soap is like?

Judge from the TFM value.

TFM -Total Fatty Matter, represents the percentage of fatty acids in the soap.

But why is TFM important?

  • Fat content decides the softness and the lather generation of the soap
  • It helps to cleanse the skin better
  • Fatty acids are helpful for killing the germs.

TFM of 60% to 75% is considered good for general purpose usage. Higher the better.

Note: Too high fatty acids are super cleansing as they dry out the skin. However, commercial manufacturers won’t be making very high TFM soaps.

Where is TFM value?

Its generally on the soap covers.
