Why were headphones invented?

We include ourselves. We want to purposely hear the noise, the pain but sometimes it is important to put on your headphones. The headphones can save you. They take you away from reality because too much of reality all the time is not so pleasant. It can rupture your skin, make your heart so weak that a fall of a needle can pierce through and through. We have all been in those situations where we put on the plugs and avoid some of the ‘life turning events”.

Though sometimes, we put the headphones aside, we pause what your escape is offering, and dive into the reality. Do you think you can breathe fine? no, because the feeling that comes next to the dive is like you are sinking, drowning and to most of us this has happened so many times that we exercise our power to choose what is more convenient to us in the moment. Irrespective whether your choice is right or wrong and hence we put the earphones on maybe even when we should not.

When we choose the reality. We come back to the surface swimming but how sure are you that it is going to turn out the same way every time you dive? After the first dive the dives get deeper and the water colder.

And what happens when you choose to not dive at all? You stop swimming. Only to find one day yourself in the middle of the ocean not knowing how to swim.

If you would want to believe there is a Grinch who steals the Christmas he lives, if you want to believe there is a Rudolph who saves the Christmas he lives and If you want to believe both do not exist they both do not exist.

If you want to believe there is a Kasab who killed 100s of people he lives. If you want to believe there is a Maghfoor Ahmad Ajazi who gave everything he had to India’s independence moment he lives. If you want to believe both do not exist they both do not exist.

You see how reality becomes the fairy tale and how fairy tale turns into the worst nightmare?

But why don’t we just keep the headphones on? Why can’t we just ignore the dive and block it when the reality is super ugly and beyond bearing.

Because somewhere it matters. It is either your reality or reality of those who love you. And aren’t we all humans at the end of the day? You want to leave the beautiful world painted in front of you by escape because well it’s at times to pretty to deal with like you’ve had too many chocolates for a day and now you just can’t think of anything sweet, you pause it and you dive right into reality. Like a hero. For you want to take the charge, you want to be there when IT is happening. We can be with peace with that now can’t we? Does that mean we chose right?

When I thought reality was to feed myself so that I do not starve to death, there was a reality where there was a mother who starved herself to death to feed her children.

When I thought reality was to keep my family safe and protect them from any harm that can possibly happen to them, there is a reality where Mahatam Gandhi thought it was his responsibility to keep the country safe.

So why can’t we keep one plug on and the other plug we just leave it out in the universe, we plug the other plug to reality.

I think that will break a lot of shackles, It will change the way we experience pain. It will help us to understand what makes people happy. There won’t be my people or your people there will be people who are all related and all of them need saving and no saving at all. I think it will create possibilities and realities that are larger than you and me.

That ways a Rudolph will come and save those people that Kasab is planning to kill next and a Mahatama Gandhi will be able to bring the selfish Ebenzer Scrooge to believe in the spirit of Christmas.

Won’t we all like a little a pinch of magic around us? Well, it is up to you to save it and cherish it.
