Great article, one thing you may have missed is that there *are* people who are management coaches. They can help a person become a manager or become a better manager, and that kind of training really should be required when promoting someone to management — and before a manager causes their best people to leave.
Also, just because someone has been a good manager of a few people doesn’t mean that they will be a good manager of a lot of people.
