I agree with you David. His team mates turned pundits played with him, yes. But Rooney has been off color for the good part of the last 2–3 years. It doesn’t make sense to play him in the midfield when there are better suited natural fits. With Rooney, United lacks cohesion. Rigid I must say. Playing him the moment is hurting the team as well as his confidence. It’s not doing anybody any good.

It’s baffling why Rooney still warrants a place in the playing eleven. I’m pretty sure he will be dropped against Leicester. Rooney might infact benefit from a break
