AI-Driven Judicial Analytics Platform Delivers Key Insights on California Superior Court Judges
Los Angeles (May 30, 2018) — AmLaw 100 firm Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton has partnered with judicial analytics company Gavelytics to provide the firm’s lawyers with unprecedented access to critical background information and actionable insights on civil trial court judges. Launched in 2017, Gavelytics uses artificial intelligence to identify and visualize patterns and tendencies in judicial decision-making.

The Gavelytics platform provides critical insights into judges’ behavior such as: propensity for favoring plaintiffs or defendants; how they are inclined to rule on pivotal motions; judicial workload; contact information and courtroom rules; and pre-bench career. The Los Angeles-based company recently expanded the platform with the addition of a comprehensive ruling database, allowing attorneys to dig even deeper and gain a more complete understanding of a given judge’s style, preferences and legal writing and analysis.
