The Art of Contradiction by Hillary Clinton
If we’re serious about fighting for progressive causes, we need to focus on the Court: who sits on it, how we choose them and how much we let politics dominate that process.
You have very clearly stated that your intent is to rally your supporters to make the SCOTUS a political tool for the Progressive Left. In that same statement you write that we can’t allow the Supreme Court to be used as a political tool by the Right. Hmmm!
What I find most interesting about this article is the fact that you have already surrendered the election to Donald Trump. You are so worried about this one seat on the court and yet you so freely admit how little it means in the long run.
By Election Day, two justices will be more than 80 years old, past the court’s average retirement age. That means whoever America elects this fall could end up nominating multiple justices. Our next president will help determine the future of the court for decades to come.
Then . . . you go on to ask your readers if they can imagine the kind of judge Donald Trump might appoint. Again, hmmm. Yes, Hillary, the current SCOTUS debate should not be your concern when you are facing off in the primary with an antiquated socialist who is creeping up on you with each new state you enter. The FBI is making a case and your political cronies, including Obama are quickly fading in glory. The gold is wearing thin and the copper is starting to show. Bernie just might whip you. If he doesn’t, Donald will.
That, Hillary should be your concern, not the current SCOTUS selection. It’s time to start calling in favors, paying off judges and other contacts and lying until your pants are burning bright. After all, that is what you do best.
