You know, Ben, last I heard high school was still free. The problem is that so many of the people you are referring to have NOT completed high school. Even so, they could take some kind of job and work toward their GEDs if they stay out of trouble. In fact most, if not all, states will help them to succeed in that effort. If they do well in the GED program, they can continue to get help to move forward through the Community College system of their states to earn a valuable technical certification or Associate’s Degree.
People with Tech Certs and degrees are earning more in many cases than those with 4-year degrees because they have learned a needed skill. Problem is, Ben, people like you make excuses for these folks. You say they got a raw deal way back when Clinton was President. Hell, that’s like Obama blaming Bush for his own stupid decisions 7 years after the fact.
