FREE ACCESS SEMINARS

On October 6th GCAS announced the release of another free seminar.

From our inception in 2013 we have been committed to providing the public free access to as many seminars and events as our resources allow. This commitment arises from our belief in the importance of the “commons”, which is our collective human belonging to each other (society), to our planet, and to all living things. The reality is there are many tremendously powerful forces in the world that are actively financing publicly harmful campaigns in order to undermine our collective life and reality together. These protracted and well financed…

Creston Davis, PhD

On Wednesday, the second of September Prof. David Graeber died in Venice. Graeber and I exchanged a few emails about education and GCAS. He was fond of GCAS and organized a meeting with a colleague of his in London about forming the early stages of an international alliance against neoliberal education. In one email he wrote, “”[W]e want it to become a broader assault on the very idea of the neoliberal university, and as it gets bigger, there will surely be international alliances.”

Graeber’s importance went well beyond his important anthropological work that circled around on the…

The lack of socially investing in education (since the Reagan era) has become dazzlingly apparent in the COVID wake, and it’s becoming dangerous. A large minority of people in the USA (some say 40%) lack even the most basic thinking skills and demonstrate they’re not even able to know when they’re being played as a puppet to the most brutal forms of disinformation and propaganda (conspiracy theories etc.) from Russian bots, FoxNews, to fringe sources designed to prey on the cerebrally challenged. Worse, this ignorant horde is being armed like a weapon unwittingly doing the dirty bidding of unchecked power-blocs…

I’ve had 2 friends die of COVID and 3 friends recover, one is still in recovery (knock on wood). Being outside the States observing the hellscape of COVID in the USA, it seems to me there are two categorically opposed camps re: COVID.

The first camp, let’s call this one the “Anti-Science/Conspiracy” position. This camp holds that anything POTUS says is unquestionably true and to oppose this “truth” means you have bought into the “deep-state” peddled by mainstream media that’s out to get POTUS at all costs. …

The USA loves drama; indeed even the President starred in a reality TV show, The Apprentice. Ronald Reagan came from Hollywood and was favored by the conservative, Republican party. During the current President’s term, 2016 to 2020, America has decisively shifted much further to the political right in ways that even some intelligent conservatives neither understand nor agree with. Under this President’s term, nationalism’s narrative rose to dominate other pluralistic ones and surely there’s a strategy to all of this, especially as the wealthy few keep amassing record amounts of assets while the majority of citizens receive less and less.

Too often education is thought about in individualized “ego-centric” terms.

“Who do you read?” “What college did you attend?”

Yet in light of the intensified attack on knowledge, facts, and truth through systematic anti-democratic propaganda campaigns of disinformation from powerful actors and institutions, we must shift how we think about education and intensify our webs of knowledge acquisition and resilience. Put differently, knowledge must be imagined beyond the atom of the subjective cage and into horizontal decentralized webs of exchange. Only in this way can attacks on truth be resisted with “hive-like” epistemic force.

This is the entire point of…

April 19, 2020- Le Caillou Farm in France

Dear Researcher,

We at our farm-node in France send our best from Le Caillou. Here we are busy building our garden, sowing seeds, and planting. We got enough seeds to be able to get us through the winter should we need the vegetables.

One aspect of our model is to always be in control of how we deliver the best education in the world, but also how our ecosystem functions that distributes resources easily and transparently. Our crypto-economy is growing, which now has over 100 participants who can earn our tokens “GCASY”…

We trust you are keeping well these days in the surreal time of COVID-19. Some of us are hunkered down on the GCAS farm-centre in France while the virus curve bends into a flatline. Until then, we’re pleased that despite capitalism taking a break, GCAS’ operations are only speeding up with more applicants and “green” investors getting involved. After all, why pay $40,000 or more a year for college when colleges are moving to online platforms? Why not invest in your education at 1/10 the cost and when you graduate your tuition is converted into ownership shares in GCAS College…

We’re all too familiar with the expression, “After college you will enter the ‘real’ world.” And the meaning of such an expression is immediately understood. It is to say that college is not the real world but a pretend one. In college, students inhabit a fantasy in which decisions, life choices, work, and relationships are bound together. The fantasy world and the ‘real’ world are split asunder in a fashion that the college fantasy world doesn’t contain within it the full elements of existence. …

As a technology, cryptocurrency remains underdeveloped and this for three basic reasons: 1. centralizing regulatory power; 2. a myopic understanding of crypto-logic; and 3. the lack of knowledge and trust in the public domain.

GCAS’ crypto-token ecosystem = crypto 2.0

On the whole, centralizing regulatory power remains caught between on the one hand, the old wealthy power-bloc that wants to keep its power and influence, and, on the other hand, the innovators motivated by the promise that blockchain and crypto can unleash into a new more efficient, prosperous economic horizon. Eventually the old wealthy power-bloc and their army of bureaucrats will lose but not without a…
