You just set off an explosion in my head *pun intended*.

For as bad as it is in startups, I think this is ingrained in old school hierarchical workplace structures.

For example, manager walks into room and tells everyone what to do, usually tied to a personal bonus incentive. People actually get used to this, including me (once upon a time).
