Google’s efforts at diversity and inclusion

Google is a company struggling with diversity despite its best efforts. As an outsider looking in, I can’t explain the issue of Google’s retention and recruiting efforts, but what I can say is that, at the very least, there is a genuine effort taking place.

In 2014, Google was the first tech company to release its diversity workplace numbers. Unfortunately little has changed since in the initial report was released. On the plus side, Google’s actions created an unprecedented expansion within the diversity workforce field, granting opportunities for diversity experts and trainers. While this has been a great opportunity for everyone involved, the ultimate goal of employment growth has yet to be realized.

“We fully acknowledge we have work to do and are committed to this work for the long haul” said Allan Thygesen, Google president of marketing solutions. To continue their push to market and recruit black, Hispanic, and women employees, Google connected with Inc to highlight four current employees helping to creatively influence their organization.
