Announcing Polkassembly’s Integration with Gear, a Substrate-based Wasm Smart Contract Platform
August 31, 2022 — We are pleased to announce the integration of Polkassembly with Gear Protocol!
Polkassembly is a governance explorer and forum for the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem. The open-source platform enables anyone to discover and participate in Substrate-based chain governance. Users can browse proposals made on-chain, discuss with the community and vote directly from the website using a browser extension.
This integration provides Gear users with a user-friendly interface for discussing and participating in ongoing on-chain governance proposals directly from the Gear website. Polkassembly is currently enabled to support the Gear Protocol TestNet, and will continue to add support for any network launched on the Gear Protocol in the future. This integration will make on-chain governance more approachable and accessible, further facilitating the adoption of proposals to advance Web3.
Gear is a next-generation WebAssembly smart contract platform based on Substrate. This platform will make it easier than ever for developers to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3. Gear offers a “blockchain-as-a-service” platform. It’s possible to deploy smart contracts in Substrate-based networks using Gear Protocol without a need to build your own blockchain.
Gear’s unique advantage is in the implementation of the Actor model within the Substrate framework. The Actor model enables asynchronous contract execution, persistent memory for immutable programs, and a minimal, intuitive, robust API interface. Persistent memory allows users to drop some of domain-specific features out of the development process, and just write regular programs, speeding up the adoption.
Our vast amount of libraries and examples of smart contracts and dApps makes the integration or coding of new dApps easy and fast, like constructing from Lego blocks.
