Ender’s Game

To save the world, one must destroy their soul.

Ender’s Game is a book, and movie, by Olsen scott Card, and is about how a person, or child, comes to grips with what must be done. The book follows a boy named Ender, and his progression through a military boot camp for young children. They are being trained to become the leaders for an impending war with an alien race. The book dives into what it means to be responsible for the lost of life's in a war. The pain that comes with sending people on mission they might not come back on,the destruction war bring. Essentially What it really means to be in charge.

Now the movie follows the book, and stars Harrison Ford, and Asa Butterfield. The plot follows the books outline extremely well, but in only 114 minutes it feels really rushed. the pacing of the movie is about a chapter every ten minutes or so. Now don’t get me wrong, I loved the movie, only because I knew the book so very well. Every big hurtle Ender must face, they hold true in the movie. From joining the salamander team, to running his own team. This moves suffers from a problem seldomly seen in Hollywood, it follows the book TOO closely. Harrison Ford, pulls off an amazing Colonel Graff, only to be out shinned by Asa Butterfield who plays Ender. Another worth wild mention on acting is Ben Kingsley who plays Mazer Rackham. Over all acting in this movie is superb in my own opinion, And CGI was also amazing. So overall, if your a fan of the book, GO SEE THIS MOVIE, but if you are no, then you might want to skip it. The Pacing in the film is just not friendly to people just coming to he story, and you will find yourself confused in points.

So as an overall rating, I give this a 6/10. If hey had split this into 2 movies I would have loved it so much more, but with an incredibly fast pacing, it’s not new viewer friendly.
