If consumers aren’t willing to make purchasing decisions based on their webcam getting hacked, why are we trying to legislate it?

Patrick Heim did a good job of explaining why we are bad at evaluating cybersecurity risks, but legislation seems like the least likely way to get a good solution. It’s surprising that the usual free market mantra of let the market sort it out is not being extended to security breaches.

We’re talking about webcams not critical infrastructure.
