You won

I thought about you today, as I always do
My mind was running a mile a minute, though the chase was not by you.
I doubt that you ever did, wasn’t it me all along?
Changing, crying, hoping, denying, wasn’t I always wrong?
Distractions are all I have before I drift in dismal skies,
They make for “happiness” I can’t part with, they make for the best lies.
Let me pretend this is a game, we know I’m no sore loser,
But I refuse to believe I fit in the phrase that beggars can’t be choosers.
