Joyous Nativity

In this time of celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, please join us in reflecting on this passage of Scripture:

Wise Men from the East

Matthew 2:9–11 (NKJV) “9 When they [the wise men] heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. 11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”

In following the practice of the Wise Men in celebrating Jesus’ birth, let us rejoice with exceeding great joy, fall down and worship Him, and present gifts to Him. These men were known as wise for a reason. They did not give gifts to each other. They presented gifts to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

As this Scripture was revealed to us in a new way, we struggled with how our family celebrates His birth. We now give gifts to Jesus. What gift will you give to Jesus Christ? Greater praise and worship? Service to the poor? More time in study and prayer? Consider your walk with Him and be a blessing to Jesus today and forever more. After all, we are celebrating His birthday!
