Trust is key too. If you want to be a good manager, you need to both inspire trust (so you’re people stick with you) and exhibit trust. You need to trust your instincts and your people, and that’s not easy to do. It takes effort and relationship building and a certain set of skills. Building/having trust is a soft skill that many organizations (and many managers/leaders) ignore. You can learn how to do it, but not overnight. And you can destroy it pretty quickly.
