General William “Kip” Ward Welcomes New Lieutenants from Norfolk State University

On Friday evening, May 7, 2018, Retired General William “Kip” Ward conducted the commissioning ceremony for six (6) newly commissioned 2d Lieutenants graduating from Norfolk State University.

For over 20 years, General Ward has been a much requested commissioning officer for numerous programs in the United States having served in this capacity on more than a dozen occasions, while on active duty and since retired. General Kip Ward is recognized for his motivational mentoring, coaching and strong example of positive leadership over decades of service.

In addition to the commissioning remarks, General Ward also administered the oath of office to the new Lieutenants. The lieutenants were pinned by parents and loved ones with gold lieutenant bars courtesy of the Military Officers Association of America, Hampton Roads Chapter. They also were received their first salute as an officer from a noncommissioned officer (NCO) instrumental to their growth and development. The Military Alumni Chapter of Norfolk State University presented the new Lieutenants with a volume on “Officership”.
