Why is the learning platform so important?

We all have to admit that the world has become much more technologically advanced than it was 10 years ago. And it continues to develop in this direction.

There is a familiar and proven method of learning through textbooks and workbooks. So how the prove that it’s worse or maybe even better than an online learning platform?

Here are the results of our study. We are Genius School an online school for the development of children. We teach children mental math and speed reading.

10 groups of 5 children aged 6 to 8 years were recruited for mental mathematics classes, 50 children in total.

Half of the groups studied using traditional methods with workbooks, a textbook and an abacus, the other half studied on an online platform and an abacus.

At the start, the counting speed of children was measured. During the study all 10 groups had 2 lessons per week for 45 minutes and were given daily homework assignments that took 10–15 minutes a day.

After 2 months, the counting speed was measured again. It turned out that the progress in groups that studied using textbooks and notebooks was approximately +52% compared to their first results. And the progress in the groups who used the platform was +99% on average.

According to the study, children who exercised on the online platform, did homework more regularly, devoted 10–15 minutes a day to this and perceived it as a game, not homework. Children who studied without a platform didn’t show such interest in the tasks given as homework and made less progress.
