Devcon 4 Updates by Genny —How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

The International Václav Havel Airport is situated in the northwest part of Prague. The distance from the airport to the city center (Old Town Square) is around 15 kilometers and takes approximately 20–40 minutes depending on the traffic situation. The airport is, of course, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The information below is meant to serve as a guide, but I still recommend shopping around for the best prices.

By pickup service:

The most recommended way is to use a pickup service. Pickup services offer better quality and reliability after a long flight to Prague. I, personally, love to have someone waiting with my name on a card, and ready to take me to my hotel to remove the hassle of finding transportation.

Price for a private pickup service is similar to regular taxis (590+ CZK), but you will get a private driver with excellent English and knowledge of Prague making your airport transfer hassle free.

Pickup service company offers several options for all budgets: private, shared, minibus, and limo. It is recommended to book ahead of time for private pickup services so you get the benefit of the chauffeur waiting for you with your name on his/her card.

Recommended private pickup services:

By public transportation bus:

The public transport to and from the airport is covered by the buses of PIT (Prague Integrated Transport), completed with a special AE bus (Airport Express).

For example, you can take:

  • The Airport Express (AE) bus which will take you to the Prague Main Station (aka train station) — “Hlavní nádraží” station, which is on metro line C. For more info on the AE bus, please visit: https://www.cd.cz/en/dalsi-sluzby/navazna-doprava/-27548/
  • Bus number 119 to Nádraží Veleslavín metro station.
  • Bus 100 to Zličín metro station.

By airport shuttle bus:

Airport shuttle buses are a good option if travelling on a limited budget, please note that the same companies usually also offer private airport transfer.

Usually, you can get the shared airport shuttles:

  • at terminal 1 (close to exit F)
  • at terminal 2 (close to exit E)

But read the instructions from the company you select as it can vary (some gather the travelers in the airport while some wait outside).

For one person, a ride to Prague’s downtown costs around 150 CZK and takes about 30 minutes.

Recommended airport shuttle buses:

By taxi:

The official airport cab operators are:

and it is best to use those two brands as they are the only ones with taxi spots at the airport.

The price of the official airport taxis is 500+ CZK.

Boarding points are marked in front of both Arrival Halls (Terminal 1 and 2).

Sales counters of taxi service providers are located at the Terminals 1 and 2 Arrival Halls.

By Uber, Taxify or Liftago:

Open the app and order yourself a car. It is recommended to book your Uber, Taxify or Liftago upfront as there is no official ride-sharing meeting parking zone at Prague Airport so you may be waiting for your car to arrive for quite some time, depending on how close the car is and the traffic situation.

If you arrive at:

  • Terminal 1 (flights from outside the Schengen area), take the Exit D or E and walk over two crossings to Parking Area P1.
  • Terminal 2 (flights from within the Schengen area), take the escalator upstairs to the Departures Hall and use Exit D.

Ride-sharing will cost you 300+ CZK depending on your destination and traffic.
