I accept this is a US story but it is difficult to buy into your moaning. If you work in central London on a low-income (far lower than $30,000 a year) you have to pay extra-ordinary travel costs that consume way beyond 10% of your salary because nobody on a low income can afford to live in central London. This predominantly to ‘service’ people on far higher incomes.
I think this is what some people call ‘first world problems’.
And you’ve not even considered your carbon footprint.
