Nice article, but to simplistic for many people. I would love to start again, say a new career. But if I abandon my current career in favour of a new one, I either take one I wouldn’t be that happy with (which defeats the point) or I start again on a different career path, starting again nearer the bottom. Who pays my mortgage in between? Is it fair for me to make that decision, when it affects my whole family, even if they would support it?
Whenever you try and simplify complex situations or decisions into a simple analogy, they always sound good but rarely reflect the nuances of the situation. Sometimes it’s about making a compromise, maybe not having the cake you want but the cake that’s best for you.
