Debating politics (like religion) is utterly futile. The only thing that will change someone’s mind is what they themselves see and experience, what they learn ‘the hard way’.
Trump supporters will simply have to see him fail (he won’t bring back jobs — that’s really where it begins and ends — the rest they don’t really care about), and then some — not all — will acknowledge their mistake. Some are already feeling the stirrings of doubt.
This is not new. History is filled with people who believe in idols which turned out to have feet of clay; idealistic people believed in the ideal of Soviet socialism, for example.
