Reporting on terrorist attacks

This is a very interesting point — even just a few years ago this kind of footage would have been unlikely to have been seen by many people, because most media outlets would censor it. But on social media a lot more is permitted, especially when it comes to violence. The question is whether this greater tolerance for raw material then filters back through to traditional media outlets — your radio example suggests this might be happening. We also see more alternative media outlets today like RT with an increased willingness to test boundaries at times if it suits their agenda (in RT’s case, the Russian government’s).
