Why was Andreas Jurca brutally attacked?

Andreas Jurca was most brutally physically assaulted at the moment when the German political party AfD is on its steep rise in terms of the powerful support for them among general public, to which some politicians in power as well as the famous and infamous Spiegel magazine, responded with the open call to ban the party.

Among the standard accusations hurled around for their allegedly being ‘populists’, which can far and wide be read in the left liberal media and in the academic literature as well, are those that the populists are believed to spread fear, offer easy solutions and that ultimately, polarize the German society and call for the internal conflicts. The political right (very often misconstrued and mischaracterised as the alt-right) is believed to be acting in more than simple ways. Namely, the right first over-exaggerate and even invent problems for them to later shovelling off those very same problems and societal woes upon certain social groups and in doing so galvanise their voters. In that way they i.e. the populists peddle fear and spread resentment i.e. they divide and antagonize society, offering quick and easy solutions for their overinflated issues

With this (mis)interpretation of the success of the political right in effect they appear to want to communicate that the society is functioning in a most perfect order but the wider population is too naïve so the political right finds it too easy to convince them into the opposite. In any case, people should simply show some patience and tolerance as if it were to do with some ephemeral issues. In other words, the media send a message that unbridled immigration both illegal and legal — the people from foreign cultural context do not have any relation whatsoever with the growth of the crime rate and violence in European cities, and that their safety and security are not in peril. Perhaps ‘NO GO zones’ are not that dangerous as they are believed to be. On the other hand even if there were violent protests and riots such as those in France or sexual assaults on women in KÖln by illegal migrants a few years ago, it is certain that the blame cannot be put arbitrarily on the foreigners.

In that case the aforesaid blame should be hurled at structural racism, police repression, intolerance, rather bleak social status and ultimately capitalism

A solution for multiculturalism MULTI KULTI German style

The solution being put forth via the left liberal media which are mainly embraced by the politicians of established political parties is in no way repatriation of illegal migrants and foreigners who are already heavily involved in criminal malfeasance. Such solutions would be simply populist solutions. Instead it is believed that they will right all the wrongs if more tolerance and intercultural dialogue is worked on. In a nutshell, this seems to be that ‘highly complex’ solution which is being juxtaposed to that only too simple ‘populist’ solution.

Due to this after each and every gross act of violence or a murder where a foreigner is the perpetrator, the main focus of the leftist liberal media is to put that case in an already well-known interpretative framework. In that case they normally claim that it is but a standalone case and it should not be exaggerated nor blown out of proportions. Then they go on to say that they are profoundly concerned that the case will be misconstrued and ‘abused’ by the political right. In any case, to their mind, violence which is committed by the foreigners can be interpreted as an isolated case or as a result of discrimination of bad social position, yet, under no circumstances can it be politically motivated.

„ Even some benevolent observers tend to fall into such an ‘ingenious’ trap and even do numerous liberal conservatives. They find it rather difficult to believe that things went too far and that the Western societies of today are not what they used to be 60 years ago. Those ‘populists’ are considered to be guilty of engaging in cultural wars, so that they call for restraint and tolerance, believing that things will settle in due time by themselves and that hopefully ‘the looney leftists’ will come to sense at some point.

In other words, for the liberal conservatives wokeism, genderism, multiculturalism, ideology of climate change and cancel culture are but a fashion fad and an aberration which will not last long. Ultimately, all those 1968-ers did come to their senses and turned ‘conformists’, got to crop off their long hair and straightened up their ties. Even Joseph Martin ‘Joschka’ Fischer has put on his suit since. Liberal conservatives ignore only too frivolously that the leftists won in the end, regardless of the changes in their clothes style, and that from the institutions which had fallen prey to the 1968 leftists is not expected to be able to have enough strength to restrain and discipline ideological upsurge of today. In any case, liberal conservative tribe find fault with the ‘populists’ that too much attention is given to ‘minor’ temper tantrums.

An attack at Andreas Jurca

It should not come as a shocking surprise that the German left liberal media tried to cover up the recent case of a brutal physical assault on Andreas Jurka, the AfD active and prominent member in Augsburg, Germany and the provincial candidate for the Bavarian State Parliament, Germany. The news about the attack first appeared in the right wing portals and only when the news spread and when further ignoring the case and dismissing it as irrelevant became impossible, only then did well -established media reported on it , which surely mirrors the state of the affairs the media and the journalistic reporting are in at present. This case is isolated because first of all it cannot fit in an already known interpretative framework in which the political right are presented as the main menace to society. For, one wonders if the state of the matters in Germany truly is that good, and if ‘the alleged populists’ truly exaggerate if migrants are obviously allowed to brutally beat the opposition leaders almost ‘to death’?

What happened in fact? According to Deutschland Kurier, Jurca was attacked on his way home in the night between Friday and Saturday. It was at that moment that he came across a bigger group of young men of migrant origin. One of the young men from the group approached Jurca and asked him if he was the man from the poster? And then after receiving an affirmative answer he in a seemingly friendly way approached him with his extended arm, and suddenly hit the AfD leader in his face after which Jurca lost consciousness. During that time, the group continued hitting him while he was lying on the ground helplessly. He ended up with severe bodily harm on his body and with his face severely bruised.

This case deserves much more attention in the public for a number of reasons. Firstly, it can be assumed that it is a matter of a politically motivated brutal attack, given that one of the attackers wanted to make sure he was ‘the man from the poster’. In this way this case remains as unpleasant for the left liberal media, not only because the attackers were black migrant refugees and the political right opposition leader was their victim ( and not the other way round) , but because at that point one cannot ‘pull the social issues card’. These attackers were not angry due to unequal chances and worse life ‘prospects’ so they did not direct their anger against the symbols of repression but they coldheartedly attacked a man due to his political beliefs.

Secondly, one cannot shrug their shoulders and endlessly repeat the phrase of ‘an isolated case’. Physical assaults on the members of AfD continue for years and the most prominent example happened in Bremen when a few years ago the AfD leader was beaten almost to death with the use of metal bars, Frank Magnic, although in that case one can begin with an assumption that the attack was politically motivated , the attackers were never found and the police abandoned/discontinued the investigation. Besides, physical attacks on the members of AfD and their property are not a rare case and neither are the cases of them being murdered, wounded or gang rapes in which the perpetrators were/are of foreign origin most often black migrants/ refugees.

Thirdly, after such attacks it was evident that the political right and ‘the populists’ cannot be blamed for unfounded scaremongering and spreading hate in a country which is extolled for its security, law and order such as Germany.

Fourthly, now one can rightly ask a question of the approach towards opposition and towards a different view another person/people might have. Namely, the attack on Jurca came shortly after the ANTIFA Frankfurt on their website called for the ‘final reckoning’ with the AfD right before the local provincial elections, be it in a rather militant way’. Let us avoid any misunderstandings of what they mean by that; it is abundantly clear whether this post and the attack on Jurca is directly related but still such open calls for violence speak volumes about the prevailing atmosphere which is being amped up and not even the circumstances that the attack comes right before the elections in Bavaria scheduled for October 8th is not insignificant.

A social climate of hostility and the continual demonizing of AfD were indicated by the injured Jurca himself wondering if anybody ever heard of the case that five to ten AfD members attacked a foreigner in a similar way. Double standards shown by the main stream media — both private and the public ones, Einar Koch, the former Bild reporter, indicated as well, asking a question what would have happened if i.e. why hasn’t Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany, responded and not even a minister of foreign affairs Nancy Frazer, neither did the President of Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Thomas Haldenvang ( CDU, who regularly gets a lot of coverage in the media,. According to Koch, all three of them contributed with their statements for the matters to become worse.

Namely, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany,, who belonged to the extreme leftist circles in his young age , did not hesitate to call for the protection of democracy from ‘the enemy from within’ and neither did Nancy Frazer hide her feelings for the gangs of leftists extremists. With such statements by the government representatives one should not wonder why some opposition politicians literally get to be brutally kicked in their teeth on the pavement, and nor because the perpetrators such as the Magnic case, are nowhere to be found. According to Peter Biston, federal delegate from the AfD ranks, Jurka was beaten not only by the migrants, but the media and politicians too. And really it is not difficult to notice a similarity between the statements of well-established politicians and calls for reckoning coming from ANTIFA groups, though the rhetoric of those others are indeed more brutal. These parallels are not mere coincidence, particularly if one bears in mind that the budget money often ends up in the hands of militant so — called anti-fascists.

Here we come to yet another moment worth our attention. Namely, up until this attack at the time of strong support for the AfD to which some politicians in the government ( Saskia Esken, SPD) responded to new calls for the ban of the AfD party. The same request was expressed by Dietmar Hipp in the recent issue of der Spiegel

Although such proposals are based on rather lame and feeble arguments, and an attempt to ban them would most likely be declined by the Constitutional Court, the increasingly frequent requests for a ban as well as physical attacks against members of the AfD go to prove that in the case of Germany, there has been a fundamental societal and political realignment and restructuring of the country. Namely, so far only two parties have been banned in that “ democracy always ready for a fistfight “. First, in 1952, the Socialist Party of the Reich (SRP) was banned, and then in 1956, the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) also came under attack.

With these two bans, an anti-totalitarian consensus was believed to have been created and some appropriate equidistance was established towards the totalitarianisms of both the left and the right. However, the distance towards the left-wing extremism shrunk over time and the Communists already founded the German Communist Party/Marxists-Leninists (DKP/ML) in 1968. In addition, since 1964, no left-wing extremist organization has been banned in Germany, and only the right-wing groups have been banned. Therefore, the anti-totalitarian consensus was transformed into a general struggle against the political right.

Viewed from this perspective, it is understandable that Antifa Frankfurt also refers to the ban debate in its announcement — thereby trying to legitimize their own calls for violence. In simple terms, if the opposition cannot be silenced by calls for a ban, there are always groups that will silence it by resorting to alternative ways. This was pointed out by Petr Bystron when he argued that such attacks are one of the means of suppression and intimidation aimed at the opposition and everyday life in Germany.

In this context, there emerges an issue to what kind of a country it is that pays much more attention to suppressing the opposition than to securing borders or even basic physical security of its citizens.
