How do you reasearch into the design necessities of the elderly and youngsters when it comes to urban mobility? That’s what Kai Vöckler, Peter Eckart and I asked ourselves, when we started “designinstitut für mobility und logistik” in 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany.
In times of constant disruption also Art schools like our Hesse State University of Art and Design, HfG Offenbach (ranked #1 Art School in Germany) must take responsibility for topics like sharing mobility, eco-logistics, sustainable supply chains etc.
How can Art and Design remain behind, when topics like energy consumption, recyclability of road coverings, public transport optimization, smart grids are discussed?
You can imagine how great it felt, when we were granted the Hesse State 3,5 million € LOEWE-grant together with Technical University Darmstadt, University of Applied Sciences Frankfurt and Goethe University Frankfurt. It’s a bold start for further activity, research, creativity.
