I more or less agree, maybe “boredom” is not the best way to phrase it. I guess I might have expressed it that way due to personal biased, since I’m the kind of hyper-active person for which “free time” quickly turns into “I’m bored, I want to do something that’s either fun or productive”.

I think you are missing a few points here:
a) Loads of people tend to associate themselves with the “class” of their parents. Thus, a lot of self-made people that would would call “rich” would call themselves middle class… out of habit.
