Everyone knows exactly what roles the main classes play, but few know what makes the special classes (Dusk, Dawns, and Mechs). Today I will explain my rationale behind these classes and what I expect the future of these to yield.

Lets start with macro oversight of these Axies. Best illustrated is this chart.

Credit Axie Infinity

Dusks: have a lot of HP and speed making them a great tank and move priority making them better than other slower tanks. They take split damage as they are reptile and aqua. They can also use reptile and aqua cards with same type damage bonus. I like to use them as a bruiser secondary which can shield and attacking, wasting their cards and maximizing your cards utility. Bruisers are high health and shield, damage champs.

Dawns: Have no “weak” stat other than morale. They also have no “strong” role that makes them fit a specific role. They are well balanced and therefore have no real/clear role. That is why no one uses them in PVP. I believe they can be in a unique role, similar to the bruiser, yet sneakier because of how underutilized they are. They will be able to tank shots while also doing enough damage to burst down their dps person mid game. These currently do not have great PVP utility, although I am finding close to 50% win rate at 1900–2000 with a Plant, Dawn, Mech combo. In the future, especially land gameplay, I believe dawns will have buffs that others will not be able to access. Similar to all special classes, they have two natures, not one, and therefore will be more valuable.

Examples in my previous post :) If you find value from these, please follow and comment any topics you’d like me to cover!

Mechs: Mechs are the Beasts and Bugs, meaning high damage and tricky cards. They lose their morale bonus (redeemed through body part stats), and have extremely high skill. Skill makes your combo attacks do better, which is extremely useful with move priority. Mechs move fast and do damage, making them ideal for a dps or tricky, tank counter. I have one a beast like dps mech. I think bug mechs will be upcoming for their PVP utility.

Now lets take a look at move combos for each of these three classes and why those are chosen. I will use my Axies as examples and let you know what I would have done differently. There will also be YouTube, team tutorials and how to find the best Axies in these classes. For now, lets get into them.

Dusk (Reptile Version):

My Reptile as Example

This is my bruiser reptile. It is the best for tanking and getting damage off. You can also go for a terminator reptile comp with chomp, mystic rush, and allergic reaction for a finisher dusk. Main trade off is not same type stat bonus but cards make for a deadly finisher. I chose reptile as I have an aqua finisher farm so it didn’t make sense for me to research the aqua version of a dusk.

Dawns (Bird Version):

Assassin/bruiser dawn

To be honest, these are not that strong. Amazing burst and can really surprise people, however, its stat’s are not amazing on the bird side of things because they are squishy and still not the fastest. My win rate is about 50% with a Plant, Bug, Dawn combo that I am still working on.

Dawn (Plant Version):

This would be ideal because people assume that since it is half plant, it is weak to Bug, Beast, and Mechs; but they are not. They are treated like a bird and therefore can tank, the tank killer attacks better as it is an inherent 30% less damage (15% to -15%). These are not widely used and could change the entire meta of Axies if they were breeded more often.

Mechs (Beast Version):

My Mech Example

Mechs have the highest skill, making their combo attacks stronger. It does not show up in PVP so currently it isn’t that much of a benefit, but once land gameplay comes out, I think it will be more important trait. Anyways, This is a straight glass cannon mana/dps beast. There are better DPS beasts, however, this guy is used for mana and 1 shotting which Johnny does well. They are faster and do great against everything except double aquas or bird finisher. Terminator reptile comps also can kill him but thats only if they get a mystic rush off to slow you.

Mechs (Bug Version): Having a terminator mech with snail, mystic rush, allergic reaction, and chomp would be interesting. Another combo is snail shell a gravel ant (makes the person not able to use melee cards and therefor you win 1–1’s with some luck on draw). Bugs are tricky and not commonly used, making the potential for future buffs to increase their effectiveness and price.

Overall, we need breeders to start breeding all of these combos to get better Axies for pvp. I would love to have the guild I am creating do PVP breeding and distribute them among the members, but in the mean time, every breeder in the Axie community should be breeding a few, selling for others to breed and get in. Currently, the tokenomics of axies is messed up due to the huge growth and there will be a correction to maintain its long term health so prices may drop, in the short term and potentially long term as well.

If you found this useful, it would really mean a lot of you like or follow to learn more about the higher level mechanics of crypto games. My next post will be about DAO’s and their relevance to the future of gaming! I appreciate you for reading this :) follow @george_pags on twitter and here!

Comment any questions or objections to things I covered here as any feedback is appreciated.
